Tuesday September 26 was an exciting day for the PureIMS team. Not only was the first cohort of volunteers dosed in the penultimate Levodopa Cyclops™ bioavailability study, we were also honored with the LIFE Science Innovation Award.
LIFE Cooperative, very successfully organizing their annual conference and award ceremony, is a cooperation of 50+ LifeScience and MedTech SMEs & startups from the Northern part of the Netherlands. Out of the four strong candidates being selected as finalists, in his exciting pitch CEO Jaap Wieling pointed out the innovation through effective and safe administration of both pulmonary and systemic medication by inhalation and stipulated the global interest in the Cyclops™ inhaler, for example from the USA, Asia, South America and the EU. After careful deliberation, the jury selected PureIMS as the winner and presented the challenge trophy and a check for €5,000 to the team.
Jaap Wieling stated: “The prize is a reward for the great work we do as a team in exceptionally good mutual cooperation, including the University of Groningen. A great incentive to continue our important work. In that perspective, this award coincides nicely with the start of the one but last Levodopa Cyclops™ study within the FDA 505(b)(2) pathway. Now back to reality, more work to do!”
